Here are some of the people who made headlines in the industry recently.

Lou Zieboldhas been named senior vice president of Sales and Marketing for all ofSI Flooring System Corp.'sbusiness units, andHugh McClainhas been promoted to general manger forSI Concrete Systems. Other personnel changes at SI Flooring Systems include the appointment ofJule Smithas general manager andJack Rookeas director of marketing.

Vince Wilkins and Jeff Katz have been named marketing managers for residential and commercial products, respectively, at Tarkett Inc. Wilkins manages Tarkett's residential sheet, luxury floor tile and laminate product lines. Katz handles the company's commercial sheet, floor tile and laminate products, as well as its specialty products and accessories.

Freudenberg Building Systems has appointed Philipp Leferenz to succeed Volker Siems as company president. Leferenz, who joined the company in 1985, comes to the United States division of The Freudenberg Group from its headquarters in Weinheim, Germany, where he served as CFO of The Freudenberg Group's Building Systems and Shoe Components Business Unit since 1998.

Formica Corp. has appointed David Hartman president of the company's newly created flooring division. Hartman joined the company in 1996 to help launch Formica's flooring business.

David Duncan has rejoined Karastan as vice president of marketing for the residential division. Duncan is responsible for managing the product development process as well as the advertising, marketing and promotion of the Karastan brand. In addition, he is charged with assisting in the development of the Ralph Lauren brand at Karastan.

Marley Flexco has named Clarke Beeler its northwest sales manager. Beeler previously worked as territory manager for both Mohawk Industries and El Dorado Carpet Mill.

W.F. Taylor Co. has promoted Barry K. Wright to executive vice president. Wright previously served as company vice president and general manager with oversight responsibility for Taylor's Dalton, Ga., adhesive manufacturing operations and all corporate functions in the eastern United States. In his new role, Wright supervises all of Taylor's manufacturing, sales, marketing, financial, and research and development functions.

The executive committee of the Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF) has elected D. Christopher Davis chairman of its board of directors. Davis, CEO of the World Floor Covering Association, formerly served as vice chairman of the foundation. His election was necessitated by the recent death of industry titan Walter B. Guinan who had served as chairman of the FCIF since its inception in 1980.
