Over 8,000 non-perishable food items were used in the design and build of two structures in the Amtico Studio as part of the annual Canstruction event, Nov. 11-24 at the New York Design Center at Lexington Ave.

Forty of the city's top architectural and engineering firms competed to design and build structures in just one night from full cans and packages of food to benefit the Food Bank of New York City.

For the 12th Annual Canstruction Competition, Amtico hosted two "canstructions" in its 1,900 square-foot design studio in Manhattan.

Beyer, Blinder Belle Architects & Planners LLP won the Best Meal Award for its "CAN-o-ramic view of Brooklyn Bridge." Urbitran Group constructed "If anyone CAN, it's Superman."

The event was sponsored by The Society of Design Administration; American Institute of Architects and the New York Design Center.
