The International Masonry Institute (IMI) will host two events in the coming months. The institute will host the Detroit Tile Marble & Terrazzo Exhibition and Awards for Excellence, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Athenaeum in Detroit for architects, interior designers, building owners, and contractors. Industry co-sponsors are Tile Marble Terrazzo BAC Local 32, Detroit Tile Contractors Association, Greater Detroit Terrazzo Contractors Association, and the Association of Marble Contractors and Finishers.

Additionally, the IMI will host the Chicago Marble & Granite Expo and Seminar at the Palmer House Hilton, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 14 for architects, interior designers, building owners, and contractors. Industry co-sponsors are the Marble Institute of America (MIA), the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), the Interiors committee of the Chicago chapter American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Marble Setters & Finishers Union Local 21 BAC and their contractors.

Architect and keynote speaker Lucien Lagrange will discuss the architectural application of natural stone on his firm's award-winning projects. Other presenters from the Marble Institute of America and Cold Spring Granite will give seminars on stone properties, design applications, and detailing.

The MIA will release the sixth edition of their Dimensional Stone Design Manual at this event. Lunch and educational materials provided by IMI. Pre-registration required.
