Two major manufacturers have launched installation products designed to drastically reduce the presence of dust at a job site. MAPEI’s Dust-Free Technology is now available in a reformulation of one of its established mortars. Mer-Krete Systems, meanwhile, has launched a ‘dustless thin-set mortar.’

The addition of Dust-Free Technology to MAPEI’s popular Ultraflex 2 is designed to reduce dust generated during the production, pouring, mix and use of the product by 90 percent. The company said it plans to add the technology in other MAPEI products.

Rainer Blair, president and CEO of MAPEI Americas, said his company’s aim is to create a healthier environment for installers. “We feel that Dust-Free Technology will enable us to provide our extended family of customers with a cleaner jobsite environment,” he said.

Mer-Krete’s Dust-Less Thin-Set is also engineered to cut down on dust. The technology is featured in its new 7d10 Dust-Less Thin-Set mortar. The company said the product features “80 percent less dust than ordinary thin-sets” and provides “improved air quality, healthier working conditions … and faster cleanup.”
