AmericasMart Atlanta is set to add an additional 250,000 sq. ft. of space for furniture, home furnishings and area rugs in time for the January ’08 Atlanta Rug Market. The expansion in Bldg. 1 follows a planned 1.5 million sq. ft. addition to Bldg. 2 slated to open in 2009. When completed, the new wing in Bldg. 2 will create one of the largest assortments of high design, garden and gourmet products in the U.S., according to the company.

In a related announcement, both Capel Rugs and Radici USA said they would expand their showrooms in time for the January ’08 market. Capel said it is remodeling its showroom located in space 6F2 of Bldg. 1. The redesign is aimed at “bringing the contemporary, sophisticated space to life with modern color palettes, innovative lighting, state-of-the-art display systems, and dynamic window displays,” according to the company.

Additionally, Radici said it is adding 1,800 sq. ft. to its Bldg. 1 showroom. Located in space 6F8, the expansion comes at a time when the company is adding to its rug lines, according to Paolo Pegorari, Radici’s general manager. “Our rug lines continue to grow, as do our New Zealand Wool Carpet collections of Wilton woven and tufted products,” he said. “We're increasing our collections of our own machine made rugs but are also importing handtufted collections to add versatility to our rug line.”

The Atlanta International Area Rug Market is slated for Jan. 17-20, 2008. For more information, visit http://www.americasmart.com/markets/giftrug.
