Derr Flooring Co. teamed with Armstrong Hardwood Flooring and PA Floors to sponsor a ‘Wicked Event’ at Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center, bringing together architects, designers and installers from more than 20 local firms to learn about the latest trends in hardwood flooring.

Hosted by Derr’s Angela Cunningham, the event featured an educational program presented by Becky French, Architectural Representative. The CEU program from Armstrong, "Specifying Commercial Hardwood Flooring," highlighted important factors to consider when selecting hardwood for commercial use, covering aesthetics to performance. Hardwood flooring for commercial spaces have never been more popular. Hardwood brings an elegant appeal to any interior.  Armstrong’s own collection of beautiful hardwoods is intended to meet the high design needs and traffic demands of retail stores, hostility areas, educational institutions, military housing and more.

The Rooftop Garden at the Kimmel Center provided an excellent back drop since the venue's floors, Armstrong Performance Plus in Natural Maple, were installed over a year ago by PA Floors. Attendees saw firsthand how this acrylic infused product has withstood the high demands placed on such a popular event space.

Members of Armstrong's design team, including Principal Designer Sara Babinski, discussed color and design forecasts for 2014, and featured new products including the US-made hand scraped American Scrape, Midtown which features an innovative Eco-Certified Composite high-density fiberboard (HDF) core, and acrylic-impregnated Performance Plus.

James Reath of PA Floors answered installation questions and presented a tabletop displayed of some of their most detailed work, including the Barnes Museum, which unveiled its new Philadelphia home last year.

After the event came to a close, attendees enjoyed a Broadway performance of Wicked at the Academy of Music.
