Ecore supplied 126,000 square feet of flooring for the Spooky Nook Sports Complex.

Ecore recently supplied 126,000 square feet of flooring for the $25 million, 700,000 square foot Spooky Nook Sports Complex. Located in Manheim in Lancaster County, Pa., this facility is less than one year old and is also home to the U.S. Olympic Women’s National Field Hockey team for training.

“We chose Ecore, because it offers a wide variety of products,” said Patrick O’Brien, director of facilities at Spooky Nook Sports. “Given the diversity of activities in the building, we needed a lot of different surfaces.”

The complex covers 14-plus-acres and features an expansive list of facilities, including eight field hockey pitches, 10 full length volleyball and basketball courts, six tennis courts, 14 batting cages, a 30-foot rock climbing wall, fitness center, sports performance area, Olympic size outdoor turf field, Olympic size air-controlled dome turf field, arcade, dining area, retail store, smoothie bar, and a local business, Orthopedics Associates of Lancaster. Nook Sports also hosts U.S.A. Field Hockey sanctioned events.

Also located in Lancaster, Ecore transforms reclaimed waste into unique performance surfacing. According to the company, Ecore customized its products to match Spooky Nook Sports’ specific needs.

Ecore products used included:

Expona Luxury Vinyl Tile (75,000-square-feet)

Forest RX (15,000 square-feet)

Everlast Performance (15,000-square-feet)

Everlast UltraTile (8,000-square-feet)

Everlast Rolls – 8mm (7,000-square-feet)

ECOrx Interlocking Tiles (3,500 square-feet)

The flooring at Spooky Nook doesn’t go unnoticed. “Close to 50% of visitors comment on the [lobby] floor and how much they love it,” said O’Brien. Additionally, the Sport Performance Area, which features Everlast UltraTile and a Performance track, is renowned for its aesthetic appeal and durability.  These surfaces are equipped to handle a wide range of athletes, including those involved in basic strength training classes to those participating in National and Olympic weight lifting programs.

Everlast Fitness Flooring was also used in the Home of the U.S. Women’s National Field Hockey Team’s weight room. "The weight room floor is clean, sturdy, and easy on the joints,” said Jamie Montgomery, a member of the U.S.A. Women’s National Field hockey team. “It's a great all-purpose surface and has a really nice aesthetic."
