Happy Feet International, a distributor of luxury vinyl plank and tile headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has donated 2,000 square feet of flooring to Chattanooga Room in the Inn, a local shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness.

Since the first “crashes” nearly a decade ago, Mohawk Industries’ commercial flooring division and Georgia United Foundation have worked together to refresh learning spaces and facilitate renovations in underserved public schools.

Women in the Flooring Industry (WIFI) received its first pledge of financial support setting up the foundation for programs and events planned for the coming year.

This year, Mohawk is not only donating more than 5,000 SmartCushion pads to comfort walkers and crew members, but it is also teaming up with retail partners in each city to host a celebratory lunch to mark the halfway point—the completion of 30 miles, which is a huge feat for the walkers.

The fundraiser, which offers financial assistance to flooring installers and their families who has fallen on hard times, will take place September 3, 2022, at the Riverbend Golf Course in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and has raised $400,000 to date. 

The American Floorcovering Alliance Inc. (AFA) has donated $135,000 to Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) to support the college’s flooring industry programs.

Mannington donated hardwood flooring for the new Vista, California, home of U.S. Marine Staff Sergeant (Ret.) Stuart DiPaolo who served multiple deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan.  

More than 200 teachers from 74 local schools attended the event to receive cut carpet and school supplies for the 2022-2023 school year.
