Grapevine, Texas -- Carpet One Floor and Home members were encouraged to “Own It” at the Gaylord Texan Hotel for their annual winter convention. The event opened with Daniel Rodriguez, known as the “Singing Policeman,” who sang the American and Canadian national anthems. Rodriguez was a Brooklyn police officer and first responder on 9/11.

Members shared best practices on how they are owning the customer experience in store, online, and in their customer’s homes and offices.

“Our product and merchandising teams have worked hard to create an agenda that will bring our members up to speed on some of the newest trends in flooring and help them serve their customers better,” said Eric Demaree, president of Carpet One Floor and Home.

Co-op management unveiled a new product assortment for its premier carpet brand, Relax, It’s Lees, which includes fresh graphics and advertising. Members learned about a new line of luxury vinyl tile (LVT), InvincibleXT, and attended a series of breakout sessions that provided a deeper dive into the LVT category, trends in hardwood and issues related to proper preparation of subfloors and hard surface installations. To better market both hard and soft surface categories, the co-op unveiled a more aggressive promotional strategy, going from four to 10 national promotions.

Members were also encouraged to diversify their product assortment this year by considering expansion into other product categories, such as kitchen and bath, window treatments and mattresses.
