Toano, Va. -- Lumber Liquidators announced the company will be moving its Toano corporate headquarters to Richmond, Va., in late 2019, and closing its finishing operations in Toano within the next six to eight months.

Following a thorough review of the company’s core strengths and its long-term strategy, Lumber Liquidators’ leadership team determined this direction best positions the business for the future.

“Lumber Liquidators continues to grow and evolve with now more than 400 retail locations in 47 states,” said Dennis Knowles, CEO of Lumber Liquidators. “Transitioning from our finishing operations business gives us an opportunity to focus on our growing retail presence and installation service offerings, to bring more flexibility and innovation to our product offerings, and enhance our customer experience for both homeowners and professionals.”

The company plans a gradual sunsetting of its Toano finishing operations, which will impact approximately 45 employees. To facilitate the transformation, the company has entered into an agreement with a third-party vendor that will be purchasing the equipment and will also supply Lumber Liquidators with finished flooring.

With the transition away from the finishing operations business, the company determined the Toano facility no longer fit the evolving needs for its headquarters. The company concluded the move to Richmond provides a long-term and cost-effective location that will help to advance the customer experience, retail strategy, as well as its Installation and Pro businesses. Lumber Liquidators plans to move into its new metro Richmond offices during the fourth quarter of 2019; the facility will house approximately 200 employees.

As part of these announcements, Lumber Liquidators also plans to relocate its Toano retail location to the Williamsburg area in 2019, which will more conveniently serve the James City County community.
