The National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) has announced the recipients of two of the tile industry's highest honors for 2025. David A. Rothberg, Chairman of Laticrete International, Inc., will receive the Joe Tarver Award for Lifetime Service, while Mark Heinlein has been named Tile Person of the Year.
David A. Rothberg: A Legacy of Leadership
Rothberg's remarkable career with Laticrete spans over four decades, beginning in 1978 in the company's laboratories. His journey through the organization included roles as Scientist, Technical Service Representative, and Vice President of Finance and Administration before becoming CEO and ultimately Chairman.
A Harvard Business School graduate with a geology background from Emory University, Rothberg has guided Laticrete's global expansion while maintaining its family-run legacy. Under his leadership, the company has emphasized innovation, education, and philanthropy across more than 100 countries.
Rothberg continues a tradition of excellence from LATICRETE, joining previous recipients including his father Henry Rothberg (2006) and Ed Metcalf (2022).
Mark Heinlein: Champion of Training and Standards
As the 2025 Tile Person of the Year, Mark Heinlein is recognized for his exceptional dedication to industry training, standards development, and mentorship.
Heinlein's NTCA journey began in 2015 after passing the Certified Tile Installer exam. His passion for education led him to become an NTCA Trainer in 2016 and later the NTCA Training Director. Under his guidance, NTCA's Workshop and Regional Training programs expanded nationwide, establishing the association as a premier training resource.
Now retired, Heinlein continues to pursue his interests in remodeling, stained glass, and artistic tile mosaics, while leaving behind a legacy of excellence in training and standards development.
Both awards will be presented at the NTCA and TCNA Awards Reception during Coverings 2025 on May 1 at 5:30 PM in Room S230E at the Orange County Convention Center. Industry members are invited to attend and celebrate these outstanding contributors to the tile industry.
