Towson, Md.-based American Stone-Mix Inc. and W.R. Bonsal Co. Inc. of Charlotte, N.C., both Oldcastle companies, have announced their merger as Bonsal American Inc.

The newly merged Bonsal American Inc. owns and operates 20 plants throughout the eastern half of the United States. Bonsal American has combined management from both companies under the leadership of President Al Borm, who was formerly president of Pioneer Roofing Inc. (a subsidiary of Hanson plc).

Individually, both companies were producers of Sakrete Cement Mixes and related building and repair products. Each company also made a variety of commercial-grade construction and restoration products. American Stone-Mix manufactured blacktop sealers, while W.R. Bonsal marketed tile installation products and stucco wall systems under the Bonsal brand.

American Stone-Mix was bought by Oldcastle Architectural Products Group (APG) in 2000. W.R. Bonsal was purchased by Oldcastle APG at the end of 2001. Oldcastle APG owns several other cement-mix producers around the country.
