Habitat for Humanity International has selected Detroit as a host site for the 22nd annual Jimmy Carter Work Project, June 17-24. The former U.S. President and his wife, Rosalynn, plan to join 3,000 volunteers in Detroit and Benton Harbor, Mich., to build houses for needy families. Habitat for Humanity Detroit says it will construct about 30 Habitat homes during the week. Material used in construction is donated by suppliers including companies in the floor covering industry.

National Floor Trends, and its parent company BNP Media are sponsoring construction of one of the houses. About 45 volunteers from the company's Architecture & Construction and Plumbing divisions have pledged to join other volunteers and Habitat for Humanity staff to help build the house.
