ABC-TV’s Regis Philbin interviews Carpet One founder Howard Brodsky to help kick off a Day of Action in New York City.

They rolled out the red carpet in New York City-and then kept rolling it and rolling it until it covered about a mile of sidewalk around Central Park. As part of an early autumn promotion to help encourage healthier lifestyles, Carpet One furnished 4,000 feet of Beaulieu of America's Rockland carpet to mark a one-mile walk set up by the group America On the Move (AOM). Howard Brodsky, the co-CEO and co-chair of Carpet One's parent company CCA Global Partners, participated in the walk, along with representatives from Carpet One of Tarrytown in Tarrytown, N.Y. and Cramers Carpet One in Madison, N.J.

"We are very excited to contribute to America On the Move by donating the red carpet and to have the opportunity to participate in their Day of Action," said Brodsky. "This is a cause that is becoming increasingly important in the U.S. and I'm proud that Carpet One will be helping to encourage individuals to develop healthier lifestyles."

Carpet One said the late September project required 24,000 square feet of Beaulieu's carpet in the color Cherry Delight. It was laid down in about 2 hours and stayed in place for nearly 20 hours. Afterward, it was moved to a storage facility, where it was cleaned and later donated to other charitable organizations.
