Jan Clinite, director of marketing and development for St. Louis-based Interstate Supply Co., was honored recently by the North American Association of Floor Covering Distributors. At its 35th annual meeting in Palm Springs, she received the Future Leader of the Year award, designed to recognize outstanding people in the industry who have not yet reached their 40th birthday.

Clinite, who is credited with positively developing the company’s marketing department in her four years with Interstate, will receive a scholarship to attend a special program at Indiana/Perdue’s University of Industrial Distribution (UID). Clinite is also active in her community, serving as treasurer of her local neighborhood association, and serving as a deacon at her church. She offered NFT a few words on her success.

“Keep your mind, ears and eyes open. See what can be done better, work collaboratively with others and involve everyone’s perspective,” she said.

Additionally at the meeting, NAFCD formally installed officers and directors for 2007. Included are executive officers Christophe Freed, president, Al Maghes, vp; Jack Lindenschmidt, treasurer; Fred Reitz, secretary; and Stephen Johnson, immediate past president. Each has committed to serving a one-year term. New directors serving three-year terms are Tom Giancani, Steve Kerr, Brad Vollrath and David Williams. Those serving two-year terms include Art Layton, Steve Rosenthal, Jim Sturla and Robert Wagner. Other one-year term directors are Daniel Kahn, Ray Mancini, Charlie Martin, Dennis Mohn and Terry Moorhead.

Of special note, the organization has formally modified its name. While it will still go by the acronym NAFCD, “NA” no longer refers to National Association but “North American Association.” The group’s management said the adjustment reflects the changing nature of its membership.
