Several floor covering professionals in Ohio were the first to receive the new joint certification for commercial resilient flooring installation established by Armstrong Floor Products and INSTALL. Members of the Ohio and Vicinity Regional Council of Carpenters (OVRCC), the installation and training arm of INSTALL Ohio, achieved the certifications over the last two months.

“This program allows us to supply our flooring employers with the best trained workforce for the local commercial floor covering industry,” said Robert Peto, executive secretary-treasurer of the OVRCC.

As part of the Armstrong-INSTALL partnership, Armstrong is backing up the workmanship of those INSTALL Ohio professionals who are certified under the plan. Should an Armstrong commercial flat lay flooring job fail after being installed by an INSTALL-Armstrong Certified Installer, Armstrong will provide up to $2,500 in materials to repair or replace the project, and the certified installer contractor will supply all labor.

The specially certified professionals will also have access to the INSTALL marketing program as well as earning the benefits of the Armstrong Certified Installer Program.

INSTALL’s director, John McGrath, said the INSTALL-Armstrong partnership will be made available throughout North America at United Brotherhood of Carpenters training centers, which offer the flooring curriculum used to teach INSTALL professionals.
