Mannington Commercial has announced the two grand prize winners in the third year of its tx:style design challenge:A la mode by Sara MeierandCoastal Rocks by Paul Lewandowski.

"Every year the tx:style competition has grown; this year saw more than 500 entries and 35,000 unique visitors to the tx:style site to view, comment and vote on the designs," said Natalie Jones, vp commercial brand development and creative product with Mannington Commercial. "Social media allows us as manufacturers to connect with the design community and to engage them in our product development process in a way that was never possible before. We're always inspired and amazed by the level of talent out there; it's just a matter of connecting with it."

Meier, of Uihlein-Wilson Architects in Milwaukee created an abstract design that alludes to the glitz and glam of fashion; with multiple levels and organic shapes, it works as a stand-alone piece or a coordinate. Lewandowki, of SMRT Architects & Engineers in Portland, Maine, was inspired by the striated basaltic rock found on the seashore, as well as flora, fauna, and colors nature of the Maine cost.

The winners among the six finalists were chosen entirely by public vote, online at http://manningtontxstyle.com. Both win a trip to attend Maison & Objet in Paris, as well as $6,000 in total prize money and full product collections with Mannington Commercial, to be launched at NeoCon 2012.
