Mohawk has received two Telly awards for its License to Spill campaign, a coast-to-coast tour in collaboration with the nationally syndicated “Better Show.” The campaign scored wins in both the Online Commercial/Campaign/Promotional and the Branded Content/Promotional Branding categories. The competition was tough this year, as the Telly Awards received over 13,000 entries from top ad agencies, production companies, TV stations, cable companies, interactive agencies and corporations around the world.

“It is an extraordinary achievement to be selected for not just one, but two Telly Awards,” said Elise Demboski, vice president of creative services at Mohawk. “Most exciting is the fact that we are only halfway through the campaign. There is a lot more excitement ahead as we take to the road for the fall leg of our tour.”

Mohawk’s License to Spill campaign has been traveling to festivals across the country showcasing the impressive cleanability of its crowd-pleasing SmartStrand carpet, spilling on it everything from chocolate to soy sauce to red wine and cleaning it with just water. Celebrity designers and Mohawk spokespersons, Taniya Nayak and Chip Wade, make guest appearances along the way to address any flooring or design questions. JD Roberto and Audra Lowe, co-hosts of The Better Show, also meet up with Mohawk’s “License to Spill” team for on-site reporting about the mess-making. Then, The Better Show team produces an event recap, which broadcasts in 170 markets and reaches more than 1 million viewers.

“The exposure we’ve received from this campaign has been phenomenal,” said Demboski. “In addition to top-notch, award-winning coverage from The Better Show, we collaborate with blogger communities at every event and utilize Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Vine to spread the word. As a result, we’ve achieved 44 million impressions, trended globally on Twitter, and been featured on jumbotrons in Times Square and on the Las Vegas strip.”

The campaign kicked off in March and traveled to Boston, Atlanta, Hilton Head, Chicago, and Philadelphia. After participating in an event in New York, the License to Spill truck will head west in the fall, with stops scheduled in Denver, Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Phoenix.

Retailers across the country have also experienced success in hosting their own License to Spill events locally.
