At its recent convention in Ft. Laurderdale, Fla., Starnet Worldwide Commercial Flooring Partnership honored its members, vendors and the designers they work with at its 14th annual Design Awards celebration.

Jeanne Matson, Starnet’s president and CEO, said each year, the buying group’s Design Awards recognize the “dynamic relationships between Starnet members and the A&D community by spotlighting the innovative use of flooring in commercial design, along with celebrating the creativity and professionalism of the A&D community and its members, as well as the quality and versatility of Starnet preferred vendor flooring products.”

Gold, silver and bronze prizes were awarded in seven categories: Healthcare, Corporate, Education, Hospitality/Public Space, Environmental Achievement and Unique Installation Challenge. Starnet members, vendors and members of the industry press voted to select the winners of the second annual People’s Choice Awards.

The winning projects were selected by a panel of A&D professionals, including Lori James, principal of SmithGroupJJR; John Nelson, founder and principal of Design, NELSON, and Mia Marshall, principal of EHS Design. Sponsoring judges for the Environmental Achievement and Unique Installation Challenge Awards were Robert Peoples, executive director of Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE), and John McGrath, director of INSTALL, respectively.
