Starnet Honors 14th Annual Design Awards Winners

The Grand Prize award went to Mr. David’s Flooring International of Itasca, Ill., for its work at the Corporate Client Meeting Space in Verona, Wis.

Gold: Image Flooring of Lenexa, Kan., for its work on the AMC Theatre Support Center in Leawood, Kan.

Silver: ReSource New Jersey of Danville, N.J., for its work on NBC Sports Winter Olympics Studios in Sochi, Russia.

Bronze: Texan Floor Service of Houston, for its work on the Smart Financial Credit Union in Houston.

Gold: D.S Baxley of Livermore, Calif., for its work at Intuitive Surgical in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Silver: Interior Surface Enterprises of Olathe, Kan., for its work at the Abilene Memorial Hospital in Abilene, Kan.

Bronze: Acierno & Co. of Denver for its work at Aspen Park Dental and Williams Orthodontics in Aspen, Colo.

Gold: Vortex Commercial Flooring of Addison, Ill., for its work at the College of DuPage McAninch Arts Center in Glen Ellyn, Ill.

Silver: Metropolitan Contract Carpets of Cherry Hill, N.J., for its work at the University of Pennsylvania’s Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books and Manuscripts in Philadelphia.

Bronze: Conventional Carpet of Sterling Heights, Mich., for its work at the Scranton Middle School in Brighton, Mich.

Gold: Along with taking home the grand prize, Mr. David’s work at the Corporate Client Meeting Space in Verona, Wis., also earned the top award in the Hospitality/Public Space category

Silver: H.J. Martin & Son of Green Bay, Wis., for its work on the Madison Central Public Library in Madison, Wis.

Bronze: Universal Metro of Santa Fe Springs, Calif., for its work on the USC Galen Center in Los Angeles.

Gold: Paul G. White Tile Co. of Portland, Maine, for its work at the Maine General Medical Center, Alfond Center for Health in Augusta, Maine.

Silver: Carpet Services of Irving, Tex., for its work on the Dallas and Ft. Worth offices of Jacobs Engineering Group.

Bronze: Allegheny Contract Flooring of Winchester, Mass., for its work at Foundation Medicine in Cambridge, Mass.

Gold: ReSource New Jersey’s work on NBC’s Winter Olympics Studios in Sochi, Russia, took home multiple prizes including the top one for a challenging and unique installation.

Silver: Universal Metro for its work at the Children’s Hospital Orange County, Calif.

Bronze: Ruggieri Brothers of Cranston, R.I., for its work at Salve Regina University’s Miley Hall in Newport, R.I.

Gold: Universal Metro’s work at the Children’s Hospital in Orange County was not only a unique installation winner, it was the top vote getter in the People’s Choice category.

Silver: NBC’s Winter Olympics Studios earned ReSource New Jersey the triple crown as it earned the company a total of three awards.

Bronze: H.J. Martin & Son’s work on the Madison Central Public Library was also a co-winner for the bronze in the People’s Choice category.

Bronze: Vortex Commercial’s work at the College of DuPage McAninch Arts Center not only took gold in the Education category it was the co-bronze winner in the People’s Choice category.























At its recent convention in Ft. Laurderdale, Fla., Starnet Worldwide Commercial Flooring Partnership honored its members, vendors and the designers they work with at its 14th annual Design Awards celebration.
Jeanne Matson, Starnet’s president and CEO, said each year, the buying group’s Design Awards recognize the “dynamic relationships between Starnet members and the A&D community by spotlighting the innovative use of flooring in commercial design, along with celebrating the creativity and professionalism of the A&D community and its members, as well as the quality and versatility of Starnet preferred vendor flooring products.”
Gold, silver and bronze prizes were awarded in seven categories: Healthcare, Corporate, Education, Hospitality/Public Space, Environmental Achievement and Unique Installation Challenge. Starnet members, vendors and members of the industry press voted to select the winners of the second annual People’s Choice Awards.
The winning projects were selected by a panel of A&D professionals, including Lori James, principal of SmithGroupJJR; John Nelson, founder and principal of Design, NELSON, and Mia Marshall, principal of EHS Design. Sponsoring judges for the Environmental Achievement and Unique Installation Challenge Awards were Robert Peoples, executive director of Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE), and John McGrath, director of INSTALL, respectively.
