The Marble Institute of America (MIA) is currently seeking presentations for its new Online Learning University, which set to launch in January. The deadline for submitting presentations is Friday, Sept. 11.

According to the association, the Online Learning University will specifically target key topics relevant to natural stone industry professionals, as well as architects and designers. Additionally, a section will be dedicated to the new Women in Stone program.

“MIA’s new Online Learning University is ideal for companies to provide training for new hires or continuing education for employees," said Carol Wilkins, MIA’s accreditation manager. "It will also be great for the design community—the courses offered will complement traditional face-to-face learning opportunities and help designers gain a better understanding of natural stone. Educators will also benefit; they will gain visibility throughout the industry and make an important contribution to industry education.”

Presentations must reflect the presenter’s expertise on the topic(s) being submitted. Presentation proposals must be submitted under one of the 10 tracks that are core to the natural stone industry:
  • Customer service
  • Design innovation
  • Fabrication
  • Installation
  • Quarrying
  • Restoration
  • Safety
  • Sales and marketing
  • Stone care and maintenance
  • Stone selection
Presentations can be submitted online. Each presentation must address latest trends, innovation and proven practices within the natural stone industry. Up to three topics can be submitted simultaneously.
