With an eye toward helping needy children in the world's major carpet weaving districts, The Oriental Rug Importers Association plans to hold a silent auction at this year's Atlanta International Area Rug Market. Taking place July 16-17 at AmericasMart Atlanta, the auction will feature 20 to 30 one-of-a-kind, hand-knotted rugs donated by ORIA members, with proceeds going directly to the organization's Charitable Fund Benefiting Children.
Congoleum Corp. posted several gains in the first quarter of 2006, including a net income of $211,000 (versus a $352,000 net loss in the first quarter of 2005), and a net income of $.03 per share (versus a net loss of $.04 per share in the first quarter of last year). Despite the strong growth in income, sales for the first quarter of 2006 dipped 0.7 percent to $57.2 million compared to $57.6 million in the first quarter of last year.

Armstrong Holdings Inc. has reported first quarter net sales of $876.6 million, 4 percent higher than last year's first quarter net sales of $840.7 million. Excluding the effects of high foreign exchange rates totaling $19.7 million, consolidated net sales increased by 7 percent.
USG Corp. announced it has joined the Alliance for Sustainable Built Environments, a three-year-old group of international companies that has been working to educate the industry on the benefits of operating "green" facilities and offering environmentally sustainable products.
