COREtec, the brand that produced the industry’s first waterproof rigid core product, is rolling out a new innovative attached underlayment, Soft Step. Soft Step, which will be distinguished by its quiet, warm, and sustainable benefits, will join COREtec’s preexisting attached cork underlayment option. The new underlayment will be officially released to the public on August 8.

The Coronavirus pandemic changed the lifestyle of many consumers, bringing offices, gyms and other hobbies into the home. This change resulted in a shift in consumers’ preferences regarding their floors. When asked to speak on the creation of Soft Step, JulieBeth Fisher, Director of Marketing for COREtec, stated,

“As we conducted consumer research after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we learned that while our consumers did still desire style and design, there was a heightened desire in sound reduction, comfort and sustainability, said JulieBeth Fisher, director of marketing for COREtec.

Research performed by the brand shows the underlayment rating as 70% better in sound reduction when compared to other LVP options and 450% better in warmth when contrasted with SPC products. Additionally, the underlayment itself is sustainably made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. Soft Step will be featured in 10 styles falling under COREtec’s Original collection, meaning the underlayment will be attached to a WPC core, adding to Soft Step’s impressive quiet and warm benefits.

Styles featuring COREtec’s Soft Step underlayment include: Conch Ash, Vintage Taupe Ash, Flaxen Ash, Midnight Oak, Cerith Oak, Mist Oak, Sand Dollar Oak, Blonde Oak, Parchment Oak and Sea Salt Oak. These styles will be featured in 9” x 72’ x 10mm specs.
