During the recent 2003 Carpet One International Summer Convention in Kissimmee, Fla., the buying group rolled out its new Selectafloor Tile System, which brings together ceramic, porcelain and other hard-surface flooring products in an integrated system.

The system, which was designed as a national merchandising program for tile, offers a plethora of colors, patterns and styles in a unit designed to appeal to retailers and consumers, according to Carpet One.

Like other Selectafloor systems, Selectafloor for Tile is organized according to lifestyle themes. The Rustic Collection features tile inspired by nature with organic colors, textures and patterns. The Classic Collection incorporates tasteful ceramic and porcelain tile. The Design Concepts Collection features a wide range of specialty styles and materials including leather, metal, glass, and stone.

Also at the convention, Carpet One honored its top-selling dealers and industry leaders. Dealers of the Year included Albert Pelusio Jr. of Rochester Linoleum & Carpet in Rochester, N.Y., in the large-volume dealer category; Kenneth Teal of Starke, Fla.-based Teal Tile Carpet One in the mid-size dealer category; and Stephen Skelton of Springfield, Ohio-based Springfield Carpet One in the small dealer category. A special dealer of the year award went to John Toliver of Toliver’s Carpet One in Tempe, Ariz.

The Wally Hileman Award, which recognizes a new Carpet One member who has shown the greatest percentage increase in purchases from the previous year, went to Phil Kennedy of Comanche Home Center Carpet One in Lawton, Okla.
