Marina Sandoval, who worked for two decades for the Trade Commission of Spain (Tile of Spain), died in a car accident July 25. She was driving home after dinner with her four young granddaughters who were not injured in the crash.
Sandoval was a native of Honduras who had lived in the United States for most of her life. She had recently retired and moved to Copan, Honduras, on the border with Guatemala. In retirement, she was active helping poor children, and guiding researchers and visitors who arrive in Copan to tour the region's ancient Mayan ruins.
Sandoval is survived by five daughters, three grandsons and four granddaughters.
