The 2011 Distributor Marketplace will feature the Distribution Management University (DMU), a new program designed for general, operations, and branch managers of floor covering distributor firms, led by distribution operations expert Dr. Michael E. Workman.

The DMU will take place in conjunction with the Marketplace, at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN, on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 8, and the morning of Wednesday, November 9. DMU enrollment includes a networking reception on Tuesday evening. Attendees have the option to attend the full Distributor Marketplace at a reduced registration fee.

The North American Association of Floor Covering Distributors (NAFCD), one of the Distributor Marketplace’s co-hosts, helped organize this new program based on feedback and interest expressed by members.

“Simply put, the DMU will help managers recognize where savings can be found and revenues can be gained,” said Michelle Miller, NAFCD Executive Director. “Members have told us that developing expertise within their management-level staff is a critical need. Dr. Workman’s program will focus on driving efficiencies in processes essential to the success of single or multi-branch firms.”

The DMU program will cover vital operations topics including costs, integrated supply, technology, sales functions, changing roles of managers and employees, and people management. Dialogue-driven sessions will provide opportunities for participants to learn current distribution processes, network with each other, and engage in scenario-based activities that can be applied directly to their own company.
