Armstrong Commercial Flooring was honored with a Bronze award in Sustainable Living/Environmental Preservation for STRIATIONS BBT BioBased Tile in the 2011 International Design Awards (IDA).

Architects and designers of interiors, fashion, products, and graphics submitted entries from over 65 countries throughout the world, proving IDA's global emphasis. Winners were recognized for their excellence in originality, creativity, excellence of execution, and overall impact.

STRIATIONS is an environmentally friendly BioBased Tile collection offering exciting visuals inspired by the natural qualities found in ancient stone and time-weathered wood, according to the company. STRIATIONS has been designed with a unique 12” by 24” linear format.

These design features are presented in a non-PVC tile containing Armstrong’s exclusive BioStride polymer which is made from rapidly renewable, U.S.-grown plant materials, 10% pre-consumer recycled content and 85% natural limestone. Made in the USA (it contains at least 60% content from US sources).

“The innovation and quality of the submissions are amazing and we are thrilled that this Armstrong product was recognized to be among the world’s top product designs,” said award-winning designer Di Anna Borders, Armstrong.  “Feedback that we’ve been getting from customers reinforces that they love the product for its versatile beauty and sustainability attributes, but also for the practical reasons of durability and competitive pricing.”

The International Design Awards were developed to celebrate visionary designers, discover new and emerging talent, and promote the appreciation of design worldwide. Winning entries will be featured in the annual IDA Book of Design, which will be available early 2013, to be distributed nationwide; promotion to 100,000 design professionals and potential clients worldwide; year-long coverage on the International Design Awards website; and critical acclaim by the distinguished panel of judges.
