Roppe
said it has entered into an exclusive sales, marketing and distribution
agreement with Tuflex, a commercial rubber flooring manufacturer based in
Tampa, Fla. Beginning Nov. 6, Tuflex will offer its recycled rubber flooring
tiles for the sports and commercial segments through Roppe’s and Flexco’s
distribution networks.
At least two installation products manufacturers
have launched new technologies designed to drastically reduce the amount of
dust created by using their products. MAPEI said the Dust-Free Technology is
available in a reformulation of one of its popular mortars. Additionally,
Mer-Krete Systems noted that it has launched a dustless thin-set mortar.
Shaw Industries Group said it has signed
a definitive agreement to buy hardwood flooring maker Anderson and its family
of companies. Based in Clinton, S.C., the 61-year-old Anderson is a fully
integrated manufacturer with hardwood brands including Anderson, Virginia
Vintage, Appalachian, Biltmore Estate and Anderson Pacific.
Jim Gould, an industry veteran with close to 40 years in the
industry, said he is leaving CCA Global Partners to start his own consulting
company. With his departure, CCA Global Partners has promoted Charlie Dilks to
chief product officer as part of a restructuring of the CCA management team.
The senior
management team of Expanko Cork Co. said it has recently completed the buyout
of the 62 year-old cork products and flooring manufacturer. The team purchased
the remaining shares in the company from former owner and president David McKee
and his family. He and his wife Judy were the majority stockholders. McKee, who
helped build the Coatesville, Pa.-based company with his father, retired last
year.
A course focusing on troubleshooting, repairing
and replacing a range of flooring materials is set for Nov. 28-30 at Custom
Floors’ headquarters in Salt Lake City. A joint effort of Certified
Floorcovering Installers and the World Floor Covering Association, the course
will cover carpet, laminate, ceramic, hardwood and resilient flooring.
Matthew Price has been
promoted to president of construction products maker W.R. Meadows Inc. He has
been with the company since 1994, most recently as exec vp.
National
Floor Trends’ parent company BNP Media has announced the
acquisition of the Professional Services Division of Ascend Media which
includes the Food, Beverage and Packaging Group and the Gaming Group of
magazines, conferences, web sites and events.
Shaw has launched
its fifth annual Kathy Ireland promotion exclusively for Shaw Flooring Alliance
dealers. The “Fall Flooring Days” event, which runs now through Oct. 15,
features incentives for retailers and consumers on a wide range of carpet,
ceramic, laminate, hardwood and area rugs.
Looking to expand its presence in the Florida market,
flooring distributor J.J. Haines & Co. has purchased distributor Wheeler
Inc. of Orlando. A leading company in the area, the 32-year-old Wheeler posts
annual sales of approximately $50 million and has a dedicated staff of more
than 70 professionals, according to the company. Haines, founded in 1874,
brings in approximately $350 million in gross shipping volume annually and has
more than 400 employees.
