Laticrete, a manufacturer of globally proven construction solutions for the building industry, has contributed multiple products to the digital television series “Idea House Build,” a show by This Old House that inspires homeowners with new ideas and innovative products. In the two new 10-part digital video series, “Idea House Build: Cottage on the Cape” and “Idea House Build: Farmhouse in Fairfield County,” viewers follow along with the construction crew as they document everything from the groundbreaking to the home transformation journey. While doing so, the show motivates and educates about the latest products and construction trends in the industry.

“Partnering with This Old House gave us the opportunity to effectively showcase the quality and performance of our products from a bathroom install, to a kitchen and garage floor installation. We hope that our building solutions inspire future projects of contractors and homeowners,” said Maria Oliveira, Laticrete senior manager, marketing communications.

“Idea House Build: Cottage on the Cape” features a 2,500-square-foot (232 m2) cottage-style home with a smartly designed footprint including an open ground-floor plan, an upstairs master with an en suite bath, second bedroom and bath and a sleeping loft for four. The project also included a finished basement, a maker’s workshop/garage and an in-law apartment. Laticrete contributed grout, tile sealant and tile adhesive for the 3½ bathrooms and two kitchens. The products installed include Permacolor Grout, a high-performance, fast-setting grout that provides color consistency, Multimax Lite, a one-step, non-sag, Large and Heavy Tile (LHT) mortar for interior and exterior installations, and Stonetech BulletProof Sealer, which is a premium, water-based penetrating sealer designed to provide maximum protection against the toughest oil and water-based stains on the most porous natural stone, tile, masonry and grout surfaces.

In “Idea House Build: Farmhouse in Fairfield County,” a distinctive modern farmhouse boasts a chef’s kitchen and butler’s pantry, which open to a vaulted great room with dramatic trusses and wall-to-wall patio doors. The home’s patio looks over a built-in spa, outdoor kitchen, fireplace, terraced lawn and personal putting green. The ground floor houses the master bedroom and en suite bath while two additional bedrooms, a bunk room and roof-deck balcony, are positioned upstairs. Laticrete contributed grout, tile sealant and adhesive for the four bathrooms, one kitchen, pantry and the mudroom/laundry room. For those installations, they supplied PERMACOLOR Grout, MULTIMAX Lite, STONETECH BulletProof Sealer and LATASIL™ Sealant, a high performance, one component, neutral cure, 100% silicone sealant designed for ceramic tile and stone applications. Additionally, the three-car garage and basement required epoxy flooring. The garage was coated using SPARTACOTE™ FLEX PURE, a low VOC, low odor, fast-curing two-part polyaspartic aliphatic polyurea coating for both decorative and protective applications, and topped with VAPOR BAN™ ER, a rapid curing, single-coat moisture vapor barrier designed for controlling the moisture vapor emission rate from new or existing concrete slabs. For the basement, SPARTACOTE FLEX PURE was used along with a traction additive.
