The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) 50+ Housing Council is now accepting applications for the 2013 Best of 50+ Housing Awards, which honor excellence in building, design, marketing and lifestyle of housing for boomers and beyond. A panel of industry professionals will judge entries in a total of 44 award categories, including "Best 50+ Integration of Aging-in-Place Technology and Design," "Best 50+ Mixed-Use Community On the Boards," "Best 50+ Integrated Marketing Strategy or Campaign" and "Best 50+ Fitness & Wellness Program," among others.

"The Best of 50+ Housing Awards are this industry's most influential national awards," said 50+ Housing Council Chairman W. Don Whyte. "The demand for 50+ housing will continue to grow as the baby boomer generation--the largest growing group of buyers that we have ever seen in this age group--approaches retirement, and these awards honor those builders and developers who truly have the needs and wants of the mature buyer and renter in mind."

All builders, developers, marketers and designers of 50+ housing are invited to enter this prestigious awards competition. Previous winners have included a Colorado community that used technology to focus on wellness, a transit-oriented community in Los Angeles developed by a partnership of Chinese and U.S. companies and a Dedham, Mass., community that took great care to integrate the sustainably-built environment with the outdoor environment and riverfront.

The winners will be announced at the NAHB International Builders' Show in Las Vegas on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013.
