Pergo has expanded its partnership with German-based Wächter Packautomatik, a mechanical engineering company. Through a new licensing agreement, Wächter Packautomtik will market any machines developed in cooperation with Pergo as “Original Wächter Packautomatik engineered by Pergo.”
MAPEI said it has acquired the assets of All-Purpose Adhesive Co., based in Dalton, Ga. The teams responsible for the APAC brand will carry on business with APAC’s current customers, and MAPEI is currently expanding the APAC sales force, MAPEI said. Additionally, the MAPEI and APAC product lines will be produced with an eye toward complementing each another. Other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Universal Fibers has entered into an agreement with David T. Rouse,
owner of Rouse Enterprises, LLC, to represent the company's
solution dyed industrial products in the United States and Canada. In
particular, Rouse will highlight the products' "benefits to
manufacturing clients, end users and the environment," the company
said.
US Floors Inc., in partnership with United Renewable Energy, has completed the first of three phases of its 94.5 kilowatt solar powered electric generation system. The system is mounted on the rooftop of the company's Dalton, Ga.-based plant, which began production of sustainable flooring products late last year. Once fully operational "the installation ... is likely to be the largest privately owned solar power generation system in the state" of Georgia, according to United Renewable Energy.
Blastrac NA has formed Diamatic Management Services (DMS), a new division designed to coordinate and handle the management, specification writing, and training for large surface preparation and polishing projects. Through its Ultra-Flor System, DMS will approve and certify contractors by way of hands-on training, instruction and testing on the proper equipment, procedures and techniques for achieving specified grinding and polishing requirements, Blastrac said.
Flexco has added two new distributors: Tom Duffy Co. and Southland Flooring Supplies. Tom Duffy Co. with multiple branches in California, will carry the full line of Flexco products in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Santa Fe Springs and Manteca, Calif.
Boa-Franc, maker
of the Mirage brand of hardwood flooring, said its products are in compliance
with the Lacey Act, a U.S. wildlife protection policy which was recently
amended to protect against illegal forest practices and the trade of such
forest products. The company said complying with this law highlights “its
progressive approach to sustainable development.”
Wood Pro Inc. has been named the newest distributor for Mercier Wood
Flooring Inc. With six locations in New York, Rhode Island, New
Hampshire, Massachussetts and Maine, Wood Floor Pro will service
specialty retailers primarily in New England.
Solutia Inc. announced today it has signed a deal to sell its nylon
business to an affiliate of SK Capital Partners II, L.P., a New
York-based private equity firm focused on the chemical, material and
health care sectors. While part of the agreement calls for Solutia to
receive a two percent equity stake in the newly formed company,
according to Solutia spokesman Dan Jenkins, “for all intents and
purposes we will no longer be in the nylon business.”
Carpet One Floor & Home is once again offering welcome mats featuring pink ribbons -- the symbol of breast cancer awareness. The retailer is helping The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), and the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) by presenting a collection of colorful welcome mat designs, with motifs ranging from flowers to flip flops. Twenty-five percent of the sales of these mats will be donated to BCRF in the US and CCS in Canada to help support breast cancer research programs.
