CBC (America), maker of the Toli and Ceres flooring lines, has added a new distributor and agent. Professional Flooring Supply, based in Fort Worth, will serve as a Toli and Ceres distributor in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and northern Louisiana.
The recent Domotex asia/Chinafloor show boasted a large contingent of designers and the first-ever pavilion featuring companies from the Anji region of the Zhejiang province, the heart of China's bamboo industry. The event drew close to 37,000 visitors, a drop of about 6 percent from last year.
Four Coverings 2009 exhibitors were singled out for their booth designs, netting the show’s annual “Best Booth” Awards. Refin took home the overall top prize, followed by Inalco, Etruria and Sicis.
Several floor covering professionals in Ohio were the first to receive the new joint certification for commercial resilient flooring installation established by Armstrong Floor Products and INSTALL. Members of the Ohio and Vicinity Regional Council of Carpenters (OVRCC), the installation and training arm of INSTALL Ohio, achieved the certifications over the last two months.
In a major change in the way it does business, Portobello America said it will now operate with representation being handled by its own employees. The sales focus of the U.S. arm, based out of Pompano Beach, Fla., will be primarily distribution.
In a special reception at Chicago’s McCormick Place, where Coverings 2009 is being held, Paige Rein of HGTV’s "Hidden Potential" awarded the Spectrum Award, First Prize to Motawi Tileworks. Motawi’s product designer Colleen Crawley led the project that received this years award for Residential Excellence, an Arts and Crafts home remodel encompassing a kitchen, foyer, sun room and fireplace surround that were united by the use of Motawi tile.
Shaw's EcoMade rugs, manufactured by the Shaw Living division, have received Cradle to Cradle Silver Certification from third-party organization McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC). According to Shaw, the company is the first rug maker in the industry to receive the honor.
Exotic hardwood flooring maker Ark Floors was honored as Top International Flooring Brand at the recent Domotex Asia/Chinafloor show in Shanghai. Additionally, Ark Floors' parent company, A&W Shanghai Woods Co., was named Top Chinese Flooring Brand.
Verde Floors announced it is relocating its North American operations roughly 350 miles northeast of its current Peachtree City, Ga., office, to the Winston-Salem, N.C. area. Randy Cox, president of Verde Floors, said the move, which is aimed at bringing sales support and business operations together in one location, will allow the company to "use our existing resources much better and add new resources much more effectively."
