Exotic hardwood flooring maker Cikel America LLC has announced a new distribution partnership with Patriot Flooring Supply, Inc. for the Northeast region.
The National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) has partnered with
Starnet Worldwide Commercial Flooring with an “overall goal to support Starnet
members in the development of their ceramic tile business,” according to the
association.
Shaw and Mohawk were among the companies honored during the Carpet America Recovery Effort's conference in Lansdowne, Va. last week. Shaw Industries' Evergreen Nylon Recyling plant was recognized with the EPA/CARE Innovations in Recycling award. Mohawk Industries was named CARE Recycler of the Year.
Jaeckle Distributors, RA Siegel and Hughes Western have signed on as regional distribution centers as part of Alloc and Berry Floor's recently launched distribution model. The new strategy is aimed at "strategically placed inventories of Alloc and Berry products that will allow for shorter lead times on delivery, improved freight efficiencies and lower carrying costs."
ProSpec recently donated tile installation materials for the construction of the 2009 St. Jude Dream Home in Springfield, Mo. (pictured). The annual Dream Home program is a major, national fund-raising campaign for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The program acquires land as inexpensively as possible, asks builders to donate their time, and manufacturers to donate building materials. Tickets are sold for a chance to win the home.
Shaw Industries Group Inc. and DAK Americas LLC have created
a new joint venture company, Clear Path Recycling LLC, to produce Recycled PET
(RPET) from post-consumer PET, which is typically derived from recycled water
and soda bottles. Both DAK, the second largest PET Resin and largest Polyester
Staple Fiber producer in the Americas, and Shaw will use the RPET material
primarily in the companies' polyester products. Shaw is the initial majority
partner in Clear Path Recycling LLC.
Design Materials Inc. of Kansas City, Kans., has joined the Wools of New Zealand brand as its latest distributor. DMI offers a wide range of natural floor coverings, including sisal, seagrass, mountaingrass, coir, cork and wool, which are inventoried in Kansas and distributed throughout North America.
Invista, maker of Antron carpet fiber, has launched antron.net/recovery, a
site designed to help school facility managers identify and specify
carpet for school renovations, as they look to utilize funding
available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). On
the website, users will find tools to aid in the selection of carpets
that help meet sustainable and high-performance school
criteria.
The organizer of Surfaces, Hanley Wood, has relaunched www.Surfaces.com with new features aimed at providing both exhibitors and attendees up-to-date industry information as well as historical data specific to their participation in all Hanley Wood shows.
MAPEI has created an advisory board, called the MAPEI Contractor Council (pictured), to represent the contractor community. The move is aimed at helping the company "better understand the voice of the customer and more closely match future product development with contractor needs," MAPEI said.
